Company Director and Head of Forest Management- Ian jack has retired after 35 years of service with the firm.
Friends and colleagues gathered to say farewell to Ian who joined the company in 1982 as an Assistant Forester working on the Lowther Estate.
By the nineties, Ian who was now General Manager of Lowther Forestry Services, was instrumental in developing the business in to a regional and then national forestry and landscape contracting business. Providing services to a wide variety of clients and industries throughout the UK.
With the ongoing expansion of the company and the development of a regional structure, Lowther Forestry Group Ltd was created and Ian became Divisional Manager of Forestry and Estate Management providing consultancy and management services to clients throughout the North of England and the Borders and in 2004 was appointed as a Director of the company.
Ian’s latest project on behalf of the company and Lowther Estates was to implement a major 165ha afforestation project on farmland on the Lowther Estate in Cumbria, which is due to be completed by April 2018.
During his speech to thank Ian for his time with the company, Jim Lowther owner and chairman of the group announced that the newly created woodlands would be named “Jack’s Wood” in recognition of Ian’s commitment and long service to the Company, Estate and the Lowther Family and as a lasting legacy to the passion he has shown throughout his professional career for woodland and conservation management.
We all wish Ian and his wife, Stephanie the best for their retirement and look forward to catching up with him as he checks on the progress of the new woodland as it develops into maturity over the coming years.
